IFBB Professional League’s Men’s Open bodybuilder Regan Grimes will compete on the 2025 New York Pro stage set for Saturday, May 17, 2025, in Teaneck, NJ.
“Prep starts for NEW YORK PRO tomorrow! 18 Weeks out at 300 pounds. I can’t wait to compete this year!”
—Regan Grimes
Grimes made his intentions known to his 1.9 million followers on Instagram with a photo of himself posing at a reported 300 pounds:
Grimes most recently competed at the 2023 Mr. Olympia in Orlando, FL, where he placed ninth behind champion Derek Lunsford. That was Grimes’ best placing in his three career Mr. Olympia appearances. Grimes ranked 15th in the 2020 and 2021 Mr. Olympia contests. Before that, he ranked eighth in the 2018 Classic Physique Olympia.
The Canadian competitor took off the entire 2024 season to focus on adding the size he showed off in his post. It was his first full season off since joining the pro ranks, and he was also looking to bring up certain parts of his physique, such as his back. Because he took that time off, he will need to win a show to qualify for the 2025 Mr. Olympia, the date and location of which has yet to be officially announced.
Grimes last competed in the New York Pro in 2018, winning the Classic Physique championship. If he were to win the Men’s Open title, he would be the first to win the New York Pro in two categories. His last Men’s Open victory came at the 2023 Europa Pro, which qualified him for the 2023 Olympia.
The full roster for the New York Pro will not be announced until the week before the contest. Grimes is the only man to have announced his entry into the competition at the time of this article’s publication. With four months before that event, more competitors will likely share their intentions as the contest gets closer.
