The everyday athlete is becoming increasingly interested in knowing how their body is working and getting a detailed picture of their health.
This is where Renovō Health has stepped in, partnering with CrossFit affiliates and major competitions to offer biomarker and lab testing.
Michael MaiAlley, the CEO of Renovō Health, has recently partnered with TYR SoCal Wodapalooza, TYR Miami Wodapalooza, and Reps Ahead, a one-on-one athlete throwdown.
- Reps Ahead’s next event is being held in Denver, CO, on November 23-24.
The company offers health and clinic resources, but MaiAlley said the majority of CrossFit athletes have taken an interest in the health part of the business, which includes extensive biomarker testing.
MaiAlley told Morning Chalk Up in an interview that the TYR Wodapalooza SoCal event introduced the broader CrossFit community. The Reps Ahead and upcoming TYR Wodapalooza Miami event will showcase what Renovō Health has to offer.
- “The data and sort of the demand in general is more toward biomarkers and tracking and assessing what’s going on inside of somebody’s body,” MaiAlley said.
What Renovō Health Offers to Athletes and Gym Owners
At an affiliate level, gym members can take advantage of Renovō Health if the affiliate is enrolled as a partner. (Partner gyms receive a 15 percent commission on the lab package their members purchase.)
- “At our core, we are a nationwide telehealth operation trying to help people actually be healthy. And so the kickback of 15 percent is something that will carry on to the life of that patient should they engage with supplements or anything like that,” MaiAlley said.
The biomarkers performed by Renovō Health have two reference ranges. The standard health reference range one might see in a typical laboratory, and then there are more optimized levels. An example MaiAlley uses is thyroid levels, which many people may have shown as a normal, healthy range.
- “Somebody could be healthy, but maybe not optimized. The next step for everybody is they’ll get lab interpretations of all the values, but then also a meeting with the clinician to go over that and ask questions, and then specific recommendations,” MaiAlley said.
All patients then receive recommendations and further resources based on the biomarker testing results. MaiAlley is also a gym owner who has brought Renovō Health into the gym for his members.
- “We integrated this in our CrossFit gyms because we want the members to have the community, have fun, but also have the resources and tools to reach the goal, whether they’re trying to improve their blood pressure or they’re trying to lose weight or whatever that is,” he added.
One Thing to Note
Renovō Health is not a part of the newly developed CrossFit Medical Society and operates as a standalone integrative healthcare company. Reps Head Pro 5 is coming this weekend and will feature 2024 Fittest Man on Earth James Sprague, Trista Smith, and Arielle Loewen, among others.
If you’re an affiliate interested in getting involved, more details on how to move forward can be found here.
