Women's bodybuilding — or rather, legitimate hardcore women's bodybuilding — has long been the proverbial red-headed stepchild in the physique competition realm. Since its inception, the "powers that be" within the IFBB, and today's NPC, haven't seemed to know exactly how to handle or judge women's bodybuilding, and strike an idealized balance between extreme muscularity and conditioning, along with some degree of "femininity". And the fans and general public — haven often been even far less forgiving and accepting.
