Karlina Tongotea (76KG) Sets 2 IPF World Records In Silver-Medal Finish at 2025 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships

The level of talent and strength among the 24-athlete roster at the 2025 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships on Jan. 26, 2025, was so deep that setting an International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) raw total world record was not sufficient to win gold. Twelve female athletes were invited to compete against each other, ranking across weight classes based on the percentage of their respective world records they could achieve or eclipse.

Karlina Tongotea, who competes in the 76KG class, broke Agata Sitko’s IPF raw total world record of 613 kilograms by three kilograms. Despite adding 0.459% to that class’s heaviest raw total ever achieved, the overall champion — Agata Sitko, competing at 69KG — added 4.667% to that weight category’s IPF raw world record.

Although Tongotea settled for silver, her performance was nothing short of remarkable. She also achieved an IPF raw world record squat en route to her 616-kilogram total.
