2024 Prague Pro Preview: Chris Bumstead, Shaun Clarida to Compete in Men’s Open

The 2024 Prague Pro will occur on Nov. 16-17, 2024, in Prague, Czech Republic. This show is an annual tradition on the IFBB pro schedule. However, it has never received as much attention as in 2024 because its Men’s Open lineup includes six-time Classic Physique Olympia champion Chris Bumstead.

After retiring onstage at the 2024 Olympia Weekend following his sixth Classic Physique Olympia win, Bumstead pivoted to his final on-stage appearance at a Men’s Open show, which many fans have wanted to see. Bumstead is joined by 19 other IFBB Pro League competitors, including 2024 Mr. Olympia fourth-place finisher Martin Fitzwater and two-time 212 Olympia Champion Shaun Clarida.

Men’s Open Athletes to Watch

This will be a highly contested show, but fans are excited about the three previously-mentioned contenders in the Men’s Open lineup.

Chris Bumstead

Bumstead has not competed in a Men’s Open bodybuilding event since he was an amateur. He turned pro in Men’s Bodybuilding at the 2016 North American Championships. However, when Classic Physique was added to the Olympia lineup, Bumstead found his new home.

During his Classic Physique career, Bumstead only lost three times. Bumstead previously said he doesn’t expect to win in Prague, which he also calls his final show. If he does win, he will qualify for the 2025 Mr. Olympia contest, the date and location of which has yet to be announced at the time of this article’s publication.

Standing on the Mr. Olympia stage with substantially more prize money ($600,000 in 2024) than he had previously won in the Classic Physique Olympia ($50,000 in 2024) may be enough to sway him back to the Olympia stage one more time. Regardless, Bumstead has stated that he intends to add to the prize purse of the 2025 Classic Physique Olympia, though what that increased amount will be remains unknown.

Martin Fitzwater

Fitzwater was the breakout star of the 2024 Mr. Olympia, taking fourth place in a very competitive lineup. However, only the top three (champion Samson Dauda, runner-up Hadi Choopan, and third-place finisher Derek Lunsford) automatically qualified for the 2025 contest. Fitzwater needs this win to qualify, and he will receive much attention as the highest-ranked open competitor in this show.

Shaun Clarida

Clarida has been on the Men’s Open stage before. He won the 2021 Legion Sports Fest Pro and placed fifth at the 2023 Arnold Classic.

Clarida is coming off a second-place finish to Keone Pearson at the 2024 212 Olympia. If Clarida were to win this show, he would be qualified to compete at the 2025 Olympia in two divisions. This will be the first time Clarida and Bumstead stand on the same stage as opponents.

How To Watch

The 2024 Prague Pro finals will be broadcast live on a pay-per-view basis. The stream costs 14.90 Euros ($15.76 USD) and can be purchased on the promoter’s website.
